1. Is it necessary that the equipment is always connected to the battery of the boat?

No, we can choose between connecting the equipment to the boat's battery (12v or 24v), or connecting it directly to the 220v port socket using the power supply that is supplied with all the equipment. If it is necessary that the equipment is always connected in some way or another, at least while the boat is not in motion.

For the PRO-251 and PRO-252 equipment, with one and two transducers respectively, the solar panel systems that are sold separately can also be used. These solar panel systems include a battery and a controller that self-manages energy to always keep the boat under protection, even during long periods of low solar radiation.

2. Do I need to take the boat out of the water to install the system?

No, the system can be installed with the boat in the water since we do not have to make any holes in the bottom of the boat.

3. Should I drill a hole in the hull of my boat?

No, you do not have to drill any holes in the bottom of the boat. The ultrasound transducers are attached to the helmet with a putty supplied with the equipment, they do not go through it. Keep in mind that the transducer must be placed on the bottom of the boat, so if your boat is double-hulled or "sandwich" we must find areas to access the bottom.

4. My boat has more than one hull (catamaran – trimaran). Do I have to put transducers in all the helmets?

Yes, all hulls on your boat must have transducers installed. The Ultrasonic Antifouling system is based on vibrations that propagate through the hull, not through the water, so if we want to protect a hull it must have transducers attached to it. Each hull must be understood as a different boat. Catamaran or trimaran vessels have a smaller beam than monohull vessels, so fewer transducers will be used to protect each hull of a catamaran or trimaran than on the hull of a monohull vessel.

5. How many transducers should I install on my boat?

We have developed different equipment according to the length of your boat, taking into account that as the length grows, the beam also grows.

For a total length of up to 5 meters we recommend installing the PRO-251 equipment, with 1 transducer; for lengths up to 8 meters the PRO-252 equipment, with 2 transducers; for lengths up to 11 meters the PRO-254 equipment, with 4 transducers; for lengths up to 13 meters the PRO-256 equipment, with 6 transducers; and for lengths up to 15 meters the PRO-258 equipment, with 8 transducers. For vessels with greater lengths, more than one unit must be installed, for example, in a 20-meter vessel, 2 PRO-258 units must be installed.

6. Can I install the system on a boat with a “sandwich” hull?

Yes, the system can be installed on a boat with a "sandwich" hull, but we must have access to the outer hull (the bottom). Depending on the vessel, this will determine the place chosen to place the transducers. You should look for the areas where the two hulls meet, or else make a hole in the inner hull to be able to place the transducer in the outer hull.

7. Can I install the system on a double hull boat?

Yes, the system can be installed on a double-hulled vessel, but we must have access to the outer hull (the bottom). Depending on the vessel, this will determine the place chosen to place the transducers. In boats where there is no access to the outer hull, you should look for the areas where the two hulls meet, or else make a hole in the inner hull to be able to place the transducer in the outer hull.

8. Who can install the equipment on my boat?

We have designed our antifouling systems so that the user can carry out the installation himself. An installation manual is delivered with all our products detailing the steps that must be followed, as well as the best distribution of the transducers on the hull according to the type of boat.

9. What happens if the equipment gets wet with water or some other liquid?

Absolutely nothing happens.

The transducers and cables have been designed so that they can work when flooded, so if we place them in the bilge and it fills with water or some other non-corrosive liquid, we don't have to worry about anything.

The control box has also been designed to be watertight and not allow liquids to enter its interior. In any case, we recommend not immersing it, since a bad installation of it can cause the loss of its watertight properties.

10. What electrical consumption does the equipment have?

Depending on the placement of the transducers, the equipment will have a different consumption. This is because our equipment, when it starts up, automatically adjusts to a certain vibration frequency, in order to make the helmet vibrate better and obtain lower consumption. The best vibration frequency will not be the same for a transom positioned aft near the center line as it is for a transom positioned on the side away from the ribs.

In addition, the transducers, with a power of 25W each, are not working continuously, but generate impulses intermittently, thus significantly reducing consumption.

We can say that, approximately, a set of 2 transducers will have a consumption of around 0.25 Ah; a team of 4 transducers 0.5Ah; and a set of 8 1Ah transducers.

11. Is the use of this system harmful to marine life in any way?

Not at all. In fact, the Ultrasonic Antifouling system is much more respectful of the environment than any other antifouling technique used up to now.

This system does not kill or drive away marine life around the boat, it just does not allow it to adhere to it. In addition, with the ultrasonic system, we can dispense with the use of self-polishing antifouling paints that dump tons of solid waste into the sea each year.

12. Do I have to paint the boat with antifouling paint if I use the ultrasonic system?

The answer to this question is “it depends”.

If the boat goes sailing very often, say three or more times a week, it will not be necessary to use antifouling paints to keep the hull of the boat impeccable, however dirt may appear in areas that are not subjected to friction. from the water when sailing, such as the transom, etc.; But if the boat is used to being docked for long periods, we recommend combining the ultrasonic system with an antifouling paint. With the combination of both systems we will be able to keep the hull of the boat in perfect condition for three or four years, until the antifouling paint loses its properties, even with the boat moored for long periods.

13. Can the structure of the boat be affected by vibrations?

The answer is no. The vibration is practically imperceptible and the displacements that are generated are of the order of thousandths of a millimeter. It must be taken into account that the boat's engine generates much higher vibrations and these do not affect the structure of the boat.

14. Does the Ultrasonic Antifouling generate any type of interference with the instrumentation of my boat?

Not at all. It is impossible for this system to generate any kind of interference with the instrumentation of the boat. The system is based on vibrations (mechanical movement) and does not generate any type of electric current or electromagnetic wave that could interfere with the instrumentation.

15. Does Ultrasonic Antifouling also work with tails, propellers, daggerboards...?

Yes, the ultrasonic antifouling system protects any area that is somehow in contact with the helmet. When installing the system, it must be taken into account that it is more difficult for the vibrations generated by the transducers to reach these areas, since they are not strictly part of the hull. For this reason, attempts will be made to place transducers as close as possible to these areas, and thus achieve good protection over them.

16. Does this antifouling system work with helmets made of any material?

Ultrasonic Antifouling works very well with fiber hulls, it works even better with metal hulls, but it does not work with wooden hulls. This is because the vibrations propagate through the hull and wood is a material that absorbs them, so it is impossible to propagate them.

17. What is ultrasonic antifouling based on?

The principle of Ultrasonic Antifouling is very simple. It is based on making the hull of the boat vibrate at ultrasonic frequencies (from 20,000 to 50,000 vibrations per second). These vibrations are imperceptible to humans, since the hull moves by thousandths of a millimeter, but they are enough to make the hull a hostile surface for any microorganism that tries to adhere to it.

Ultrasonic Antifouling only generates vibrations (mechanical movement). To avoid fouling, no type of electromagnetic wave, electric current, or the like is used.
